Performance of 316 capillary stainless steel tube

Capillary stainless steel tubes generally refer to thin tubes with an inner diameter of less than or equal to 1mm. Because such tubes are as thin as a hair, they are called capillary tubes. Its use occasions include medicine, building materials, automatic instrument signal tubes, instrument wire protection tubes; precision optical scale lines, industrial sensors, electronic equipment line protection tubes; safety protection of electrical circuits, protection of thermal instrument capillary tubes, and hollow-core high-voltage optical cables inner support application.

The commonly used material for capillary stainless steel tubes is 316 stainless steel. Due to the small diameter of this type of capillary, the flexibility, corrosion resistance, high-temperature resistance, wear resistance, tensile resistance, and water resistance are all very good. It also has excellent electromagnetic shielding performance and can be freely bent into various angles. And the radius of curvature can withstand the axial tension of more than 6 times the nominal inner diameter.

The corrosion resistance of 316 capillary stainless steel tube is better than that of 304 capillary stainless steel tube, and it always maintains excellent corrosion resistance in the production process of pulp and paper. And 316 stainless steel can also resist the corrosion of marine and aggressive industrial atmospheres.

The heat resistance of 316 capillary stainless steel tube is also the same. In both intermittent use at 871°C and continuous use at 927°C, 316 capillary stainless steel tubes have very good oxidation resistance. Do not use 316 stainless steel continuously when operating in the range of 427°C to 857°C, but when 316 stainless steel is continuously used outside this temperature range, this type of stainless steel has very good heat resistance. However, the carbide precipitation resistance of 316L stainless steel is better than that of 316 stainless steel, and it can continue to work in the above temperature range.

In terms of heat treatment of 316 capillary stainless steel tube, the material can be annealed in the temperature range of 1850-2050°C, then rapidly annealed and cooled rapidly. 316 stainless steel cannot be hardened by heat treatment.

316 capillary stainless steel tube also has good welding performance. Can be welded using all standard welding processes. When welding, 316Cb, 316L, or 309Cb stainless steel filler rods or electrodes can be used for welding according to the application. To obtain better corrosion resistance, the welded section of 316 stainless steel should be annealed after welding. If 316L stainless steel is used, post-weld annealing is not required.
