How to control the wall thickness deviation of seamless steel pipes

Among the common problems of seamless steel pipes, wall thickness difference (eccentricity) occupies the first place. Wall thickness difference, as the name implies, is the difference between the maximum wall thickness and the minimum wall thickness. As long as it is a seamless steel pipe, there will be wall thickness deviation, but how much can this deviation be controlled? If the wall thickness deviation of the seamless steel pipe is too large, what impact will it have on the customer’s products? Have you ever encountered a seamless steel pipe with serious wall thickness deviation as shown in the figure below?

1. Wall thickness deviation specified by the national standard
What is the general allowable deviation of the wall thickness of seamless steel pipes? According to the national standard: GB/T8162-2008 National Standard for Seamless Steel Pipes for Structures.

2. The impact of uneven wall thickness of seamless steel pipes
In some mechanical processing application fields, the wall thickness deviation of seamless steel pipes is a very important indicator. If the wall thickness deviation is too large, a larger margin is required, which wastes materials and increases costs. It is difficult to take orders and has no market competitiveness.

3. How to control the wall thickness deviation of steel pipes to help customers save costs
(1) The source of steel pipe production – perforation
· We have sophisticated perforation equipment (extended type). The furnace length is equipped with preheating, heating, and high-temperature zones. Natural gas nozzles are used throughout the process to ensure uniform temperature and ensure the quality of perforation.
· High-quality alloy plugs are used to ensure better and more stable perforation quality.
· Keep sampling records throughout the perforation process and inspect each tube after perforation to ensure the quality of the tube.
· For general small steel pipe factories (processing workshops), perforated tubes are generally purchased from outside, and the quality of the tubes cannot be controlled and guaranteed from the source.

(2) Steel pipes – 16 years of experience in thick-walled pipe production, mature and stable technology.
Thick-walled steel pipes are special products of steel pipes, especially various carbon steel and alloy thick-walled steel pipes, with specifications such as 32*12 (wall thickness), and 20*8 (wall thickness).
The steel pipe has two processes: cold drawing and cold rolling. The wall thickness deviation, precision, and performance of seamless steel pipes can be customized according to customer product requirements, helping customers save costs and have cost-effective products.
