Common welded pipe connection methods and specifications:
A) Butt welding connection
Butt welding is a method of connecting two pipes by welding their ends together. There are three types of butt welding connections: full welding, short welding, and head welding.
1. Fully soldered connection
Full welding is a method of connecting two pipes by completely welding their ends together. The weld height must meet the standard requirement of being no lower than the surface of the base metal, and the weld quality must be ensured. Proper control of welding current and time is also important to prevent excessive heat, which can cause the weld to be too long or welding slag to mix into the weld.
2. Short solder connection
Short welding is a connection method in which only part of the ends of two welded pipes are welded. The length of the weld shall not be less than the specified minimum weld length, and high precision is required in the position of the weld. There shall be no pores, inclusions, scratches and other defects in the weld to ensure the quality of the weld.
3. Head welding connection
Head welding is a connection method in which the end of a welded pipe is isolated from the external environment through the head, and then connected to other welded pipes through welding. There are certain standards and specifications for the material selection and manufacturing of the head, pipe diameter and wall thickness requirements, etc. The quality of the head welding directly affects the service life of the entire welded pipe, so special attention needs to be paid during specific operations.
B) Socket welding connection
Socket welding is a connection method that connects the ends of two welded pipes through sockets. Socket welding connection methods are divided into two types: socket butt welding and socket short welding.
1. Socket butt welding
Socket butt welding is a relatively common method of connecting welded pipes. Its standard requirements are that the weld size and welding parameters should be determined according to the thickness of the base metal, and the welding current and time should be precisely controlled. Overheating or underheating welding is strictly prohibited.
2. Socket short welding
Socket short welding is a welded pipe connection method in which the ends of two welded pipes are only socketed for a certain length and then connected by welding. The standard requirements for socket short welding mainly include welding parameters, welding quality, weld size, etc.
C)Threaded connection
Threaded connection is a connection method that connects the ends of two welded pipes through threads. Its standard requirements mainly include parameters and technical requirements such as thread size, outline shape, thread pitch, thread profile, etc.
D) Pressure method connection
Pressure connection is a connection method that connects the ends of two welded pipes through pressure. Its standard requirements mainly include interface form, sealing, connection strength, etc.
In short, different welded pipe connection methods have certain specifications and standard requirements for specific operations, and they need to be operated in strict accordance with the standards to ensure welding quality and subsequent use effects.
